Mosaic Place is located in Purley in the borough of Croydon, London. The development consists of 106no. apartments ranging in size from single bed to 3 bed units and includes shared ownership and social affordable units.
Located on an inclined site the building includes a lower ground floor and basement partially recessed into the terrain and is wrapped around four sides of an enclosed private courtyard. The design has been developed to reflect current London housing standards and to be constructed using pre-fabricated frame, slabs and external walls which will be faced traditionally in masonry with feature stone banding. The development will also utilise bathroom and utility pods for speed of construction. The use of prefabrication has required a high degree of ‘upfront’ coordination.
The building is predominantly brick faced with an unusual 1/3 stretcher course to reflect historic masonry used in Purley Library.
Construction commenced in February 2021 with completion planned for 2022.
