An Taoiseach performs turning of the sod ceremony at Holy Family School

An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar attended Holy Family school, Cootehill Co. Cavan on Fri 12 Oct to perform a turning of the sod ceremony marking the commencement of the new build. Designed by our TODD Architects Education Design Team, lead by Associate Bobby Moore.

The newbuild special educational needs school will consist of;

  • A new 1-2 storey replacement Special need’s School building with 26 classrooms
  • Associated ancillary accommodation
  • 94no. car parking spaces
  • Bus drop-off
  • 1 no. sports pitch
  • Play areas
  • Sensory garden
  • Site boundary treatment with landscaping to include connection to external perimeter pavement.

The total floor area of the new school will be 5310m².


‘Sometimes we need look at the world differently from the way we have in the past and challenge conventional wisdom.
We have to see what can be, and then try and make it a reality.
It’s what this school is all about and it’s why I’m delighted to be here today to turn the sod on this new building.’
