‘One Bankmore Square’ – a major new £65m office development at the Movie House cinema site on Belfast’s Dublin Road has been granted planning permission by Belfast City Council.
The building design by TODD Architects, when complete, will become the largest single office building in Northern Ireland. In addition to 250,000 sq ft of Grade A office space over 12 floors, the development will also deliver 8,000 sq ft of ground floor space for ancillary retail uses, and the transformation of Bankmore Square itself into a focal public event space for the city.
The planning application followed a year of intensive design and proactive engagement with the planners, its consultees and public consultation events. As a result, planning approval was obtained in only 2 months(!), with the quality of the application recognised by the city council as an exemplar benchmark for future applications.
