Brigella Mills, Bradford

Briggella Mills on the outskirts of Bradford city centre, dates from the late 1800’s and was used for textile production up until the early 2000’s.

Acquired by client AMAFHH in 2018, the practice is bringing forward a c. 450 home mixed tenure residential development, retaining / refurbishing elements of the original building complex and adding new buildings, reinstating long lost streets and the traditional victorian urban form.

The buildings comprise a lower plinth whose form and architectural details is derived from traditional terraces, with taller elements designed as ‘contemporary mills’.

The material selection, colour palette and detailing, echo themes that predominate in historical buildings within the city.
