Kainos office, Birmingham

TODD Architects developed and oversaw the implementation of this new state-of-the-art office Grade A design for Kainos in Birmingham.

Key features include: A new reception area with a digital welcome screen and informal meet and greet spaces; Meeting / training rooms in a range of layouts / sizes; A canteen / recreation area including a kitchen and bleacher seating; Fixed working desks throughout; A prayer room, wellness room and comms room.

To facilitate spontaneous and planned collaboration, huddle whiteboards were dispersed throughout the new space as well as a mix of formal / informal seating areas featuring bespoke furniture with in-built technology. Sliding doors and folding screens were used throughout to create flexible working zones that could be adapted throughout the day.

Telephone booths, secure rooms and 3 person meeting rooms were also included to provide discrete private spaces when needed. Biophillic design features including a considered colour palette and extensive planting and greenery were integrated to further promote wellness amongst staff.

In a post-covid world, the project is fantastic example of a modern, flexible, agile workspace that promotes collaboration and creativity whilst also catering effectively to a hybrid working model.
