Lostock Sustainable Energy Plant (SEP)

The practice was retained with engineers, Doran Consulting, by contractor CNIM group under a D&B contract, to complete the detail design and delivery of an exemplar design for the Lostock SEP, an energy from waste (EfW) facility located at the Lostock Works site near Northwich in Cheshire.

It will recover energy from approximately 600,000 tonnes per year of refuse-derived fuel (RDF). RDF is residual waste left over after reusable and recyclable material has been removed. The facility will generate enough renewable electricity to power the equivalent of around 125,000 homes per year.

The construction and commissioning process started Q3 2020 with the site expected to be operational in Q2 2023.
