Stormont Retirement Village, Belfast

Identifying a growing demand for later living accommodation in East Belfast, our client, Summerhill Retirement Developments, appointed to the practice to explore the prospects, for the conversion of the Stormont Hotel complex into a retirement village and healthcare facility.

Our proposals include:
• The provision of independent and assisted living accommodation on the hotel’s existing car park.
• The conversion of much of the existing hotel, into a 5 star nursing home.
• The refurbishment and extension of the remainder of the hotel into a private hospital.

We are presently progressing the proposals through a Pre Application Design (PAD) process with the local planning authority, in advance of bringing forward an outline planning application, that with provide flexibility from an operator perspective in respect of the type and mix of later living provision.
